Last month, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette proudly hosted the 46th annual Congress of the American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences (ARA), welcoming international leaders in arts, science, technology, and education.

The Louisiana Center for Health Innovation (LCHI) played a leading role in organizing and executing the event. Dr. Gabriela Mustata Wilson, LCHI Director, chaired the congress, and Kemiah Owoh, LCHI’s Operations and Communications Coordinator, served as Congress Coordinator. Their leadership helped create a collaborative and impactful experience for all involved.

Several LCHI team members presented original research at the congress, including Health Innovation Officer Dr. Angie Sanchez, Research Scientist Sadie Smith, Research Associate Sahithya Sakhamuri, and Graduate Research Assistant Chloe Guidry. Their work highlights the Center’s commitment to health innovation and interdisciplinary discovery.

In addition to presentations and four keynotes, the congress featured a poster session, networking receptions, and a ceremonial signing to encourage ongoing international collaboration. The event also marked the relaunch of UL Lafayette’s chapter of the National Academy of Inventors—an exciting step in supporting academic entrepreneurship and innovation.

We’re proud of our team and honored to have contributed to such a meaningful global event.
